Amazon Prime Day 2024 Deals
Prime Day 2024 is coming! The precise date and length of Prime Day is usually a well guarded secret until shortly before the actual event is announced, with much speculation going on about its precise dates on the internet as the Amazon announcement approaches. Current estimates place it on July 9 and 10, 2024.
Last year, Prime Day led to almost 13 billion dollars of sales on the ecommerce platform. That estimate actually outpaced the amount of online sales conducted on Black Friday – traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year. It also caused other major retailers to run July sales before, during and after the mega event in order to ride on its coattails and pick up some sales.
We will once again be tracking Prime Day deals here, whenever it ends up happening. So stay tuned!
This year is expected to be the biggest Prime Day ever with competitors like Walmart, eBay, and Target already announcing their own competing sale dates.

Last Major Update:
You will need to have an Amazon prime membership in order to take advantage of the deals. However, Amazon is expected to offer discounted memberships or a 30 day free trial for those signing up for the service. It has done so every year in the past.
Prime Day has single-handedly become one of the biggest shopping days in the United States. Although it has yet to reach the levels set by Singles Day from Alibaba, China’s ecommerce giant, Amazon sales are now topping a billion dollars during this single day in the middle of the historically slow summer shopping season. Although its retail competitors have tried to steal some of its thunder, the one-day only promotions offered by Amazon obviously have a lot of fans.

Amazon usually offers some of its best discounts of the year on its own products during Prime Day. If you are interested in picking up a Kindle, Fire, Echo or Ring doorbell, then this is one of two times during the year where you are likely to get an incredible deal (the other is Thanksgiving weekend, with what are almost always tremendous Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales).
Amazon Kindle Reader: A book e-reader made and sold by Amazon that downloads content over wireless networks. Browse, buy, download and read eBooks on this device, and your Prime membership also gets you access to the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library for more content. Kindle Unlimited is an available monthly subscription service for the most voracious readers.
One of the best Prime day deals is for the 6″ Paperwhite, for 33% off it’s regular price of $119. The Paperwhite is their best-selling Kindle and has no glare like other tablet screens, and has a built-in front light so you can read in any amount of light!
Amazon Fire Tablet: The Fire 7, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 are affordable tablet computers made and sold by Amazon. They function as a Kindle with the ability to access web content and a library of apps. There is also a Kids Edition of the Fire 7 and the Fire HD 8. The kids’ version comes with a kid-proof case, 2 year worry free guarantee, one year of free access to kid-friendly books, movies, apps, games and more. Plus, Parental controls allow management of usage and content access.
The Fire 7 is 40% off today, meaning you can snag this size for only $29.99. The Fire HD 8, which comes with Alexa, is on sale for $49.99 today (38% off). The Fire HD 10, normally $149.99, is only $99.99 through tomorrow, meaning you save 33% on the biggest, most feature-laden tablet! You can scoop up the Fire HD 8 Kids Edition on sale today too, and save 31% – grab it for only $89.99 and enjoy 1 year of FreeTime Unlimited (included) where your little can access books, videos, games and more!
Amazon Fire TV Stick: A digital media player and remote created by Amazon that plugs into a HDMI port on a TV and delivers content to your television over your home’s wireless network. The Fire TV is 40% more powerful than the Fire TV Stick, with faster processing, but they both come with Alexa Voice Remote to help you find your content, and access to a library of apps to help you connect with the content you use. Whether you’ve cut the cord or still have cable, access more of your favorite shows, movies and games on your TV – and on Prime Day, you save 50% on both these great options!
Amazon Echo: A voice-enabled smart speaker (now in its second generation with the 2017 version). The Echo Dot is a smaller, more affordable version of the Echo. The Echo Plus is the latest version of the device – it is used to automatically discover and setup compatible smart lights. All three devices play music, control smart home devices, make calls, send/receive messages and deliver content such as news, weather, sports scores and more, just using your voice. Save 30-40% on each of these, and 25% off the Kid’s Echo Dot version, which tells jokes, plays songs, and answer questions (all kid-friendly), plus FreeTime Unlimited for a year (included) for access to kid’s radio stations, Audible books and more. (You can even get a two-pack of Echo Dots if you are planning on having them around the house, which is the same as a Buy 1 Get 1 on the normal price!)
Amazon Echo Show and Spot: The Echo Show is Amazon’s popular Alexa-enabled Echo with a video screen, so you can watch video briefings, Amazon Video content, and see music lyrics, security cameras, photos, weather forecasts, to-do and shopping lists, browse and listen to Audible audiobooks, and more. The Echo Spot is a compact video screen designed to fit anywhere, with hands free operation via Alexa. Save 23-43% on Prime Day when you grab these home assistants.
Amazon Echo Look: A style assistant with hands-free camera and Alexa. It offers a Style Check to get a second opinion on your outfit. The Style Check combines fashion specialists with machine learning algorithms. It also allows you to see yourself from every angle and build your own personal lookbook. It also has full access to Alexa to ask questions, set timers and reminders, create to-do lists and more. Echo Look is 50% off for Prime Day, only $99.99.
Ring Doorbell: Amazon acquired the smart home equipment maker Ring earlier this year so the Ring Video Doorbell is included in substantial price discounts during Prime Day 2018. The device lets you see, hear and speak to people at your door via your phone, tablet or PC. There is also an instant alert for visitors both via motion sensors as well as when the doorbell is pressed. Owners of the device can also get video on demand via the camera. The Prime Deal is on the Ring Video Doorbell Pro (30% off, now $174) – which if you don’t want to pay for traditional security services, the discounted price of the hardware combined with the low ongoing storage fee could be the solution you’re looking for!
Amazon Cloud Cam Security Camera: Stay connected to your home 24/7. Watch, download, and share up the last 24 hours of motion-activated video clips for free, and use two way audio to talk to the mailman, your dog, and potential intruders. Get notifications when Cloud Cam sees activity, or check in whenever you like online, on the mobile app, or with Alexa on any Amazon screen (Fire TV, Fire tablet, Echo Show, Echo Spot). Save 50% on Amazon Cloud Cam on Prime Day, or bundle with other parts of the Amazon Home Key kit and save on more! Bundling a Kwikset smartlock and Cloud Cam saves you 48% on both pieces.

History of Amazon Prime Day
The first Prime Day was held on July 15, 2015. It celebrated the 20th anniversary of the creation of Amazon.com (the company was initially incorporated under another name). They rolled out new deals every 10 minutes. The day broke sales records at the company, selling 34.4 million items across Prime-eligible countries at a record of 398 items per second. This exceeded its sales from Black Friday 2014 by 18 percent.
Prime Day 2016 fell on July 12, 2016. Amazon increased the number of items in stock so that they could offer the discounts to more customers. They also rolled out the new discounts at a faster pace – every five minutes rather than every ten minutes in 2015. It turned out to be the biggest day ever for the online retailer and its order volume exceeded the previous Prime Day by more than 60 percent. Amazon ended up selling two million toys and more than 90,000 TVs that day.
Prime Day 2017 happened around July 11, 2017. It technically started at 9 PM Eastern on July 10th and finished 30 hours later at 2:59 AM Eastern on July 12th. It ended up being the biggest sales day in Amazon’s history. Sales were bigger than either Black Friday or Cyber Monday 2016. The event grew by more than 60% compared to Prime Day from the previous year. The most popular item with buyers was the Echo Dot.
Amazon Prime Day 2018 will have a tall order if it is going to set another record and stay Amazon’s biggest shopping day. Cyber Monday 2017 topped the previous record for sales set by Prime Day 2017.
Why is it called Prime Day?
The nation’s #1 retailer offers its best discounts to its subscribers of Amazon Prime. Prime is an annual subscription service that offers free two-day shipping on over 100 million items. It also allows streaming of millions of songs, free Kindle e-books and other benefits. The cost of Prime is currently $119 for a 12 month subscription.
Amazon Prime was launched in 2005 to offer subscribers free two-day delivery on an unlimited number of items for $79 a year. The service followed on the success of its Free Super Saver Shipping. The hope of the company was that customers would spend more. It has been called the company’s riskiest gamble so far in its history. The price of Prime went up in 2014 to $99 a year. Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has called it “the best bargain in the history of shopping.”
In April 2018, Amazon announced that the price of a Prime membership would increase to $119. Executives said that the 20% hike was due to the need to cover additional costs from the program, such as increases in shipping fees. This change took effect in May of 2018 for new customers and began in June 2018 for renewing customers.
