All the pick your own apple orchards in Georgia are within a two-hour or less drive from Atlanta, and many are concentrated around the Ellijay area. Given the southern climate, it makes sense that most of the apple farms are in the northern part of the state…leaving plenty of land everywhere else for peaches, peanuts, pecans, and all the other delicious (although less fall-like) produce that Georgia produces!

B.J. Reece Orchards - Ellijay, GA
A family owned and operated orchard in Ellijay started in 1960 that offers you pick apples in September and October. Several varieties are available for picking beginning late August, with additional options pre-picked in their market. On weekends, enjoy a wagon ride, the farm animals and the apple cannon. They sell pies, pumpkin rolls, caramel apples, apple cider doughnuts and homemade breads from their bakery, as well as ciders in a variety of flavors. They are located about 80 miles north of Atlanta.

Hillcrest Orchards - Ellijay, GA
A family owned and operated apple orchard and farm market in the North Georgia Mountains. The Apple Pickin’ Jubilee starts in early September and runs every weekend through October. Festival activities include pick your own apples, milk a cow, swimming pig races, live music, and more. The bakery sells apple cider doughnuts, fried apple pies, apple fritters, homemade ice cream and caramel apples. They also sell fresh apple cider and cider slushies. Parking is free. Located 90 minutes from both downtown Atlanta and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Hillside Orchard Farms - Lakemont, GA
Pick your own apples (5+ varieties) are available (since 2015), plus pumpkins, a corn maze, hang out with Festus the donkey and other barnyard animals, take a hayride, and more. The bakery makes fresh pies, doughnuts, and more daily during the fall. They are located about 115 miles northeast of Atlanta.

Mack Aaron’s Apple House - Ellijay, GA
This third generation apple orchard, run by the Aaron family since 1944, offers apples, peaches, hand pies and other baked goods, cider, and more in their market. You pick apples not available. They are located about 80 miles north of Atlanta.

Mercier Orchards - Blue Ridge, GA
A 4th generation family owned and operated orchard harvesting fruit for more than 70 years. Pick your own apples and more, starting in September. Enjoy cider donuts and more from the bakery or cafe, fresh sweet or hard ciders, and more offerings from their market store and winery. They will ship many of their products so you can enjoy a taste of this farm around the country. Mercier is located about 100 miles north of Atlanta, near the state line.

Panorama Orchards - Ellijay, GA
The Stembridge family began growing apples here in the 1920s. They have 20 apple varieties that are ripe between July and January and available in their farm market. Be sure to try their cider, famous fried pies and other baked goods. No pick your own, but there is plenty to do in the Ellijay area, and a trip to this orchard can complete a day at Amicalola Falls State Park or something else nearby. Ellijay is abut 90 minutes north of Atlanta.

Penland’s Apple House - Ellijay, GA
They offer apples, peaches, hand pies and more in their market. You pick apples not available. Family owned and operated since 1936. They are locatd about 80 miles north of Atlanta.

R&A Orchards - Ellijay, GA
The Futch family has been growing apples in Gilmer County since 1947. The orchard consists of 60 acres of apple trees and 10 acres of peaches and nectarines. The family orchard is now run by Andy, Jennifer and their children, the third and fourth generation in the family business. Apple picking starts around August 1st, with 18 varieties available before apple season ends around December 1. They also offer apple cider, fresh baked goods and more – visit the Roadside Market or you can order apples online from their orchard to be shipped to you! Ellijay is about 90 minutes north of Atlanta.

Red Apple Barn - Ellijay, GA
The Pritchett family started selling apples in 1971 when they built their 20×20 apple barn. They started allowing you pick apples from the orchard in 2010. Their apples begin ripening in early August and are harvested by late October. Other activities include the pumpkin patch, cornhole and horse shoes. They also have apple pies, apple fritters, apple donuts, caramel apples and other treats. Ellijay is located about 90 minutes north of Atlanta.
